Jon Roozenbeek (Department of Slavonic Studies) and Sander van der Linden (Department of Psychology) have been awarded the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications $10,000 Research Prize in Public Interest Communications.

The winning paper among the three finalists selected from 74 entries, entitled Fake News Game Confers Psychological Resistance Against Online Misinformation was presented by Jon at the frank gathering in Gainesville, Florida in February and voted into the winning spot by the audience. The paper describes the psychological intervention in online gaming form that Jon and Sander developed to 'inoculate' online users againt fake news, raising media literacy and resilience.
