Manj Sandu’s research focuses on the integration of principles and procedures underlying population genetics and epidemiology. Together with current and emerging genome-wide technologies, this approach provides unparalleled opportunities to identify the biological mechanisms underlying the development of complex diseases and traits. His work has largely centred on the genetic basis of cardiometabolic traits and diseases, particularly lipid metabolism and coronary artery disease, and the use of genetic tools for causal inference. More recently, he has begun developing epidemiological resources to explore genomic diversity and its impact on infectious and cardiometabolic risk factors and diseases in Sub-Saharan African populations, as part of a public health and epidemiological research programme.
